Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa paid a work visit to the UK as part of efforts to reach out to different media enterprises and benefit from their expertise.
He met with the Times Editor-in-Chief James Harding, in the presence of Bahrain Ambassador to London Alice Samaan, Bahrain International Circuit chairman Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani and Embassy media attaché Shaikh Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa.
He also met The Independent chairman Evgeny Lebedev and stressed the IAA keen interest to reach out to leading international media establishments and keep abreast of their press strides, in addition ways of benefiting from their expertise to promote the media sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He reaffirmed Bahrain’s resolve to continue the march, adding that all doors would remain open for the media to have access to accurate information – in line with the principles of freedom and transparency championed in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. Shaikh Fawaz paid a visit to the House of Commons and met several officials including Baroness Morris of Bolton who chairs the Conservative Middle East Council (CMEC).
He was briefed on the role of the House of Commons and its members and discussed issues of mutual concern. He also stressed strong historic relations bonding Bahrain and the UK, expressing the hope that more channels of cooperation would be opened for the sake of both countries’ interests.
