DHL Express Global CEO Ken Allen arrived in Bahrain and met with the Country Managers of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) markets to discuss the state of business in the region and opportunities for further growth. The meeting comes as part of Allen’s Middle East tour, which began with a visit to DHL Egypt and included a tour of the existing facilities, where Allen was joined by Executive Vice President, Global Network Operations Charlie Dobbie and DHL Express MENA CEO Nour Suliman.
“The MENA region is a rapidly changing and expanding market and is a vital link in DHL’s global network. There is huge potential for growth, and we are keen to further enhance our operations in the region in order to expand both our presence and capabilities to deliver simple logistics solutions. Our Regional Hub in Bahrain connects 25 gateways to the rest of the world, ensuring that our customers get the fast and efficient service that DHL provides,” Allen said.
DHL Express currently operates in 19 markets across the MENA region including: Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania.
The MENA region is one of the fastest growing markets in DHL’s global network with over 5,500 employees working in 19 countries, all with warehouse packing facilities and more than 45,000 active customers. DHL MENA also maintains a fleet of 1,960 operative vehicles, and 16 dedicated aircraft and an average of 165 commercial flights a day, operating out 2 air hubs and 3 road hubs. In addition DHL MENA has 950 facilities and 436 touch points as well as 25 gateways across the region.
