Representatives of GCC Ministries of Interior held a meeting this morning in Bahrain to study the establishment of a GCC police force.
Chairman of the meeting Major-General Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Shehri gave a speech welcoming the attendants, considering this meeting an extension to what was discussed in the 30th meeting of the GCC Ministers of Interior in the United Arab Emirates last December, which included the recommendation to study the proposal to establish a GCC police force, within the belief of the necessity to achieve security cooperation between the GCC countries, in accordance with the current challenges.
Major-General Mohammed Al-Shehri pointed that the meeting was held under delicate security circumstances and the current developments and major transformations the world and the region in specific is experiencing.
The participating representatives are discussing in their meetings, which will continue until tomorrow, the foundations and principles to achieve a unified GCC vision to establish a police force that aims to consolidate security and stability in the countries involved.
