His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa reaffirmed his desire to build a Bahraini society free from any unilateral domination.
He pointed out his efforts to promote democracy ever since he launched the reform project, citing the final report of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI).
In an interview with Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbun, HM King Hamad called upon all parties to rally together and works hand in hand to promote their country’s development.
Asked about the regional situation a year into the wave of protests which hit several Arab countries, HM King Hamad urged all countries to embrace development, being the only viable path.
“Legitimate development is the best path to take”, he said, adding that any talk of spring is meaningless if the situation deteriorates into utter bloodshed. HM the King called for an end to all forms of violence in Syria.
Asked about the Iranian nuclear programme, HM the King pointed out the issues which need transparency in Iran, as they cause concern among all countries in the region.
He expressed his hope that Iran would address these controversial issues in total transparency for regional and international confidence to be built. HM King Hamad hailed strong bilateral relations bonding Bahrain and Japan in all fields.
He pointed out that his historic visit would bolster economic and trade cooperation and boost investments.
“This landmark visit will usher in a new phase of bilateral relations as both countries strive to ensure their peoples further progress and prosperity”, he told the Japanese leading daily.
