Minister of State for Information Affairs Samira Rajab said that her appointment does not mean the return of the old Information Ministry, cancelled by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 2010.
In a statement to London-based Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, Samira Rajab said that she will be in charge of representing the media sector in the Cabinet and the National Assembly whose prerogatives were expanded earlier this year.
She also explained that regulating the media sector in the kingdom and authorizing media establishments will be carried out by the Information Affairs Authority (IAA).
