With all security measures are in place, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s 8th Grand Prix will kick off on 20th April with an expected turnout of 80,000 plus this year.
The Chairman of the Bahrain International Circuit Zayed Al Zayani told 24X7 News that he was not concerned with any security issue during the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain.
This year Formula One management had accorded permission to over 200 media to cover Bahrain Grand Prix amidst speculation created by Western media about the security concerns.
“BIC has had maintained a very consistent position over F1 Grand Prix as it’s a social, sports and entertainment event and has nothing to do with any other issue,” Al Zayani said, adding that BIC would remain a secure place for visitors, participating teams during the three event.
The teams, he said, already start arriving in Bahrain over the past many days after finishing the Shanghai Grand Prix in China.
“By tomorrow the process of arrival of the teams and drivers will be completed,” he added.
“BIC has become a nursery to train people to host these types of specialized event and now Bahrain is exporting the expertise to the other countries,” he said.
“Around 156 Bahrainis has successfully hosted the Indian Grand Prix and upon the success Bahrain is receiving queries from Russia and other countries including Russia which set to host the Grand Prix in 2014. We have been learning from our experience every year since the first race in 2004 and every year we achieve excellence,” Al Zayani added.
About the call by the opposition for protests Al Zayani said that Bahrain being a democratic country would not deny the right of protest.
“BIC is a private property and nobody will be allowed to trespass whatever the reason,” he said, adding that all possible security measures have been put in place by the concerned authorities.
About the possible turnover, he said, Sunday which will be the final day which would see a crowd of 30,000 spectators.
