Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, opened the 8th edition of the Middle East Refining and Petrochemicals Conference and Exhibition known as Middle East Petrotech 2012, stressed the need of ongoing expansion of refining and petrochemical industry in Bahrain by conducting more excavation and exploration operations, in cooperation with major international oil companies.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa delegated Shaikh Khalid t open the event being held at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIEC).
Deputy Premier said the move is in line with the government’s programmes aimed at boosting investments in the energy field so as to cater to growing demands for power.
He also underlined the importance of benefiting from international conferences to further upgrade the energy sector in Bahrain, diversify revenues and promote the Kingdom’s status as a major investment destination.
Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza has affirmed that the strategy of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) aims to attract more specialised international conferences and exhibitions to boost the kingdom’s status as a major host of such events and bring about more scientific achievements by grooming the labour force and equipping Bahraini professionals with the needed knowledge and experience.
