Bahrain’s Auditor-General, who heads the National Audit Court, Hassan Khalifa Al-Jalahma, announced the completion of the audit of the accounts of the ministries and other government entities for the year ended 31st December 2011.
The “Consolidated Final Account of the State” has also been audited and submitted with the audit opinions to the finance minister.
The accounts will be submitted to the Cabinet for review before finally directing it to the Council of Representatives according to Article (49) of the Budget Law.
The National Audit Office has also followed up the audit observations and recommendations of the last year’s audit reports to ensure that the ministries and other government entities have implemented the recommendations of the report in accordance with Article (22) of the National Audit Office Law.
Furthermore, the National Audit Office has completed the audit of Future Generation Reserve Account for the year ended 31 December 2011 according to the requirements its law No (28) for the year 2006 and has sent the audit opinion to Minister of Finance ( Chairman of the Future Generation Reserve Council).
The Auditor-General Al-Jalahma assured that the above mentioned audits were carried out in accordance with the auditing Standards issued by the “International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions” and in accordance with the annual audit plan of the National Audit Office.
Al-Jalahma also added that the office was currently preparing the annual report on the Consolidated Account of the State and the final account of the ministries and other government entities, subject to audit, and the results of the Performance and Administrative Audits which will be submitted to his Majesty the King, the Cabinet and the Council of Representatives in October 2012.
