Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour, Sabah Salem Al Dousari will lead Bahrain’s delegation, which will participate in the GCC Countries’ meeting of the undersecretaries of the Ministries of Labour to be held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on May 20-21st.
Al Dousari stated that the meeting comes as an implementation of the decision of the GCC ministers of Labour, pointing out that during the meeting they will review the successful experiences of the member states in the field of labor market’s regulation.
They will also provide views and suggestions on the mechanism of benefitting from these experiences and spare effort and money through proposing several national pioneering and distinctive projects, where they will reconsider them as Gulf work programmes for the interest of the GCC countries.
Al Dousari added that the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Labour, has chosen to review the most prominent two projects implemented during the past years, which are the system of insurance against unemployment, highlighting that Bahrain is the first Gulf state to apply this type of social protection system.
The second project is the National Project for Employment, which is considered one of the pioneering projects carried out by the ministry during the last period, where it successfully contributed in reducing the unemployment rate in the country from 15% to a secure level of 4% in less than two years, and it also contributed in improving the wages of the national labour in private sector.
