Oil production is set to increase from 50,000 to 100,000 barrels per day over the next five years, according to Energy Minister Dr. Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
Dr Mirza, who was chief guest at a business luncheon hosted by the the Bahrain-Britain Business Forum (BBBF) at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, shed a light on the 80-years long history of the oil sector since oil was first discovered in Bahrain in 1932 and praised solid British contribution into the Bahrain Oil Company (BAPCO) throughout the past decades.
The Minister invited British firms to explore available and future prospects in the oil sector. The Minister revealed that drilling is underway in 3600 new oil wells.
The Minister answered questions in the presence of British Ambassador Iain Lindsay and the Bahrain-Britain Business Forum’s chairman Khalid Al-Zayani.
Al-Zayani highly appreciated the Minister’s efforts and practical experience which extended over 49 years in the oil and gas industry.
The Bahrain-Britain Business Forum includes 430 members from the two friendly countries.
