Kuwait Finance House-Bahrain’s Social Committee in association with the Bahrain Disability Challenging Youth Society conducted a workshop on “Sign Language” for a group of its employees.
“People with special needs are important part of the Bahraini society and the bank’s customers as well. The bank pays a lot of attention to serving and providing the best services to all of its customers,” Khalid Al Hassan Chairman of the Social Committee, said.
“This workshop aimed to equip KFH-Bahrain employees with suitable means to communicate effectively with the disabled people in order to provide them with the best services,” he added.
“I would like to thank the social committee for its supportive role in bringing the KFH-B family together and for its innovative activities that it had carried out,” he said.
“Some disabled people face difficulties while visiting some companies because they lack the suitable means of communications. This workshop has trained KFH-B employees on using sign language with the disabled and it will help them in communicating with them effectively”.
“The social committee has prepared an eventful year for the staff with plenty of social and entertaining activities”, he said.
KFH-B is the first Retail Bank to conduct such workshop for people with special needs. Participants were awarded certificates for their attendance.
The four-day workshop was conducted by Jassim Mubarak; a language instructor specialized in sign language. The workshop was aimed to develop the knowledge and skills of attendees in using sign language with the disabled, and developing attitudes with the use of sign language using different methods of communication that helps the disabled to interact acoustically with members of the community.
KFH-B employees who participated in the workshop, especially the customer service representative, learned some of the banking terms and practiced some scenarios that are used on a daily basis to prepare them to communicate with a disabled person when he visits the Bank’s premises.
