VLCC honoured three Bahrain-based “Good Health Ambassadors” who have undergone the scientific and healthy VLCC weight loss programme to fight obesity and transform their lives.
Jyothi Ramyi, Khaled Fahad Al Alawy and Abdul Jalil A. Latif Sanad were commended for their extraordinary effort by the VLCC Founder and Mentor, Vandana Luthra, during her visit to the Kingdom and the region.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), obesity is rising at an alarming rate in the Middle East. In Bahrain, 36.7 per cent of males and 28.3 per cent of females are overweight overweight, while 23.3 per cent of males and 34.1 per cent of females are obese. Compounding the problem is the fact that the obesity rate in Bahrain is set to triple by 2030, if serious action is not taken.
Vandana Luthra, Founder and mentor, VLCC Group, stressed that the solutions to combat obesity exist and the three “Good Health Ambassadors” are a living proof that any overweight or obese person can transform their lives.
“Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and cancer. However, the journey to good health, a fit body and complete wellness begins with commitment, nutritional intervention and a simple lifestyle change. Today, we honor the good health ambassadors and we salute them for their dedication to the program and for setting an example for others to follow,”Luthra said
The three “Good Health Ambassadors” have lost a combined total of 70 kg and a total of 250 cm waistline, through customized programs of healthy diet, skin and muscle toning therapy and lifestyle change.
Khaled Fahad Al Alawy, whose initial weight was 136 kg and was considered morbidly obese according to his 42.8 body mass index (BMI), said only a permanent change in lifestyle can lead to lifelong wellness.
“I was at serious risk and I had to take action,” said Al Alawy. “I’ve tried crash diets and pills to try and lose weight but they didn’t work. When I consulted with VLCC experts, they performed a thorough wellness analysis which identified a medical condition, the root cause of my obesity. Thanks to VLCC’s customized program and lifestyle change recommendation, I’ve managed to lose over 46 kg and drop my BMI to 28.”
Luthra added that 31 per cent of VLCC customers are unaware that weight gain is either a result of, or accompanied by, uncontrolled medical conditions, such as hypertension, hypothyroid, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes, hyperinsulinemia, arthritis, and others.
“Our clients who experience slow weight loss or exhibit symptoms of associated medical conditions are generally asked to get relevant medical tests done. This practice has helped many realize and discover their hidden medical conditions, which needed immediate medical attention and has helped us customize scientific weight loss programs taking their medical conditions into consideration,” she said.
Over the years, VLCC has served over 8,000 customers in Bahrain, helping them lose a more than 26,000 kg. With two centers in Zinj and Isa Town and a staff strength of 75 in Bahrain, over two-third of whom are experienced specialists including medical doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, cosmetologists and physiotherapists, VLCC continues to deliver on its promise to combat obesity and transform people’s lives in the Kingdom.
