Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority (eGA) which earlier National eGovernment Strategy 2016 has convened an initial discussions-cum-meeting of all stakeholders including over 40 top level officials and decision-makers representing various government ministries and entities in the Kingdom.
eGovernment Authority Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Al Qaed welcomed the attendees and appreciated their response and participation in activating the National eGovernment Strategy 2016.
The strategy was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) during the opening ceremony of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012.
He also confirmed the vital role of the government entities and the constructive impact of linking government performance, particularly in the field of information technology and communication (ICT).
Al Qaed highlighted that the new eGovernment strategy builds on the solid foundations and achievements of the previous period (2007-2010).
He added that the new strategy contains 90 e-Initiatives for the community. Furthermore, he pointed-out that the core pivots of the new strategy are to achieve next generation government excellence by delivering high-quality services effectively, encouraging innovation, advocating proactive public engagement, nurturing entrepreneurship and essentially collaborating with all stakeholders.
He praised the great efforts exerted by the committee of the National eGovernment Strategy 2016 in terms of selecting the consultant company, liaising with suppliers and setting the strategic objectives.
Booz & Company Senior Associate Fady Kassatly presented the comprehensive framework which is based on a three-dimension methodology ‘Environment-Readiness-Usage’ framework (ERU). Kassatly also highlighted the eGovernment target model along with its objectives that consistently contribute to the achievement of the Economic Vision 2030. He related the ambitious initiatives and strategic direction which aims to accomplish a number of national initiatives related to eGovernment and ICT.
eGovernment Authority Director of Policies and BPR Directorate Dr. Zakareya Al Khaja presented the strategic objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the realization of the projected targets. He focused on ways of cooperation and joint work mechanism with various ministries in efforts of linking the government projects to enable the implementation of projects such as the development of eServices (40 integrated services annually), National Payment Aggregator, eKey, National Portal Plus along many other projects.
The attendees were briefed on the strategy and the concluding open session witnessed active participation by government representatives who shared their feedback. The meeting comes in the framework of enhancing inter-cooperation and engagement of government entities for a successful eTransformation as well as to achieve the national strategic objectives, raise the level of eTransformation and improve Bahrain’s competitiveness, regionally and globally.
