Royal University for Women hosted two important events organized by the Ministry of Culture. The first event was a guest lecture on the ‘History of Traditional Dress on and the second event was a ‘Workshop on Traditional Dress Designing Skills’ at Royal University for Women campus. These events were organized by the Ministry of Culture as part of the celebration of ‘Manama the capital of Arab Culture’.
The Lecture and Workshop were delivered by an eminent expert Dr Leyla Belkaпd, Director of the Master in Luxury Management at the Geneva School of Business Administration, University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland. She has a Masters degree in fashion design from the Academia of Art & Design of Florence. She has also been the Professor of Fashion Theory and Fashion Design at the Geneva University of Art & Design. She also conducts research for the Ministry of Culture of Algeria on traditional dresses and collaborates with the Basel College of Art & Design in Switzerland and with the GUCCI Museo in Florence, Italy.
The students of the faculty of Arts and design at the university and the guests greatly appreciated the knowledge and skills imparted by Dr Belkaпd. “We are thankful to the Ministry of Culture for this valuable opportunity. Not only was it practical and useful for our students and faculty, it was also inspiring and motivating” said Dr. Rachna Mohan, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design.
