ADIPEC, the largest oil and gas exhibition in the Middle East, has announced the theme of this year’s ADIPEC 2012 conference titled ‘Sustainable Energy Growth: People, Responsibility and Innovation’.
Under the patronage of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and organised by the dmg::events and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the conference, has established itself as the leading platform for oil and gas professionals to share knowledge and expertise in the region.
Attracting a wide range of industry professionals, government officials, oil and gas producers, contractors, investors and technical specialists, the conference comprises of carefully-selected presentations and papers, panel discussions and plenary sessions.
In 2010, the conference attracted more than 4,000 delegates and a total of 1,093 abstracts, of which 260 papers were selected, from industry professionals from 33 countries.
“In 2012, we are seeing a rise in the number of submissions in comparison to 2010 and expect more experts to attend the conference. To date, more than 1,500 papers have been submitted from 58 countries representing 345 companies, and a total of 437 papers from 40 countries, representing 117 companies, have been selected. This is a reflection on the transparency of the selection process and the immense expertise the executive committee brings to the programme,” Kimon Alexandrou, Commercial Director, dmg Energy Group, said.
“As such an important component of ADIPEC, the scale and technicalities of the conference require an in-depth technical paper selection process and comprehensive programme management. This year, in line with our theme of Sustainable Energy Growth, we’re giving considerable attention to environmental issues such as carbon capture and storage, as well as the industry’s increasing use of carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery,” Kimon, said.
The executive committee includes Ali Al Jarwan, CEO, ADMA OPCO; Qasem Al Kayoumi, ADNOC; Ray Mitro, ZADCO; Khaled Buraik, Saudi Aramco; Salim Aufi, Petroleum Development Oman and Hosnia Hashim, Kuwait Oil Company.
