Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa received an invitation to visit the African Union Commission (AUC) and discussed cooperation opportunities towards promoting development.
HRH the Premier received a letter in regard from AUC Chairperson Dr. Jean Ping who expressed keenness on promoting relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain.
AUC Commissioner’s envoy Salah Siddiq Hammad Mohammed delivered the message during his recent visit to Bahrain.
The AUC Envoy hailed HRH the Premier’s world status which earned him international honour and globally acknowledged awards.
He cited particularly the UN-HABITAT Scroll of Honour and the UNESCO Avicenna Gold Medal, in addition to the Khalifa bin Salman Human Habitat Award, whose first edition was awarded to Burkina Faso.
The AUC Envoy hailed Bahrain’s steps and strenuous and constructive efforts as well as unprecedented and pioneering initiatives to turn the page of last year’s crisis.
He urged the Kingdom of Bahrain to step up cooperation with African states and benefit from investment opportunities in the agricultural, industrial and trade sectors towards achieving development and prosperity for both sides.
Mohammed stressed the pivotal role of the Addis Ababa-based Commission in representing the African Union, defending its interests and implementing goals towards promoting pan-African leverage in the global economy.
The AUC envoy also underscored the crucial role of the AUC in coordinating African stances in the UN and its affiliated agencies, in addition to coordination with regional organisations-such as the Arab League and other regional economic groups.
He also stressed the AUC efforts to promote the issues of peace and security, combat disputes, spearheaded economic development and support human resources, sciences and technology.
