Her Royal Highness, Wife of His Majesty the King and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa patronized the second promotional symposium of the Arab Women Organization’s project entitled “Women’s Human Rights, Signs Illuminated in the Provisions of the Arab Judiciary.”
Meanwhile, the promotional symposium was organized by the Supreme Council for Women in cooperation with Arab Women Organization, and the Supreme Judicial Council during the period from June 18 to 19 2012 at Sofitel Hotel in Bahrain.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka stressed the importance of showing the illuminating signs in the provisions of the Arab Judiciary with regard to women’s human rights, reinforcing that such Arab experiences and presenting them for study and analysis would contribute in serving their issues. These experiences would also enhance the prominent progress achieved by the member Arab States in the Arab Women Organization on the level of the legal texts’ application to preserve women’s rights and support their position.
Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka also pointed out the important role of the Arab Women Organization as a specialized institution aims at achieving the Arab Women’s solidarity as being the keystone and the means to make women aware of their social, economic, cultural, legal and media issues. She also expressed her pride of the role of the Organization in promoting a promising work programme that would contribute in developing women’s potentialities, and building their capabilities as fully competent individuals and citizens.
Wife of His Majesty the King highlighted that Bahraini Women, through the reform and national modernization mechanism, are considered qualified partners who are able to bear full national responsibilities. She also stressed the need to continue the development process in the judicial field, to preserve the women’s dignity and support their family’s position, social prestige and their role in public life.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women Hala Al Ansari delivered her speech, highlighting that the symposium would address issues like the human rights for women within the provisions of legislation. During the symposium, she also pointed out some work papers would be presented, which were done by high efficient experts from a number of Arab Countries.
Al Ansari highlighted the role of Kingdom of Bahrain in asserting the human rights through the adoption of the National Charter Action, the Constitution, and the laws in force based on the principle of equality and equal opportunities between the two genders concerning the political and social rights. This is ensured by the reform project of His Majesty the King, which resulted in establishing the National Organization for Human Rights, and the attempt to establish a specialized Arabic Court in human rights.
The Director General of the Arab Women Organization, Dr. Wadoda Badran delivered a speech where she thanked and appreciated Her Royal Highness, Wife of His Majesty the King, the Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Women, Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for patronizing that promotional symposium.
The coordinator of the project Dr. Layla Azoori presented a brief included the work mechanism with participation of experts representing the member Arab States in the Arab Women’s Organization. She also presented primary workshops, where she displayed the most important results of their studies in their final form.
Later the members started the issues of the symposium, where the Advisor of Her Royal Highness the Wife of His Majesty the King, Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi chaired the first session. In the second session chaired by Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, the member of the Supreme Council for Women, some visual promotions and experiences were presented. The promotional symposium is continuous till tomorrow.
