Within the continuous follow up of the construction of the National Theatre, one of the most important projects to reinforce the cultural infrastructure, Minister of Culture Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met with the Minister of Works Essam Khalaf and the working team of the project to review the latest developments of the project.
The working team is from the Ministry of Works, the consulting company, and the company assigned to implement the interior designs of the National Theatre. The meeting was for following up the course of work and the construction steps, to ensure that they are in line with the adopted plan to achieve the project which is located north of Bahrain National Museum.
Minister of Culture stressed that launching that magnificent edifice coincides with the celebration of Manama, the capital of Arab culture in 2012, where the events of November were dedicated to make (the month of theatre) within the celebrations’ agenda of this year.
Shaikha Mai pointed out that the National Theatre’s project attains a great support and encouragement from the officials in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Meanwhile, Shaikha Mai thanked and appreciated the officials at the Ministry of Works, particularly the Minister Essam Khalaf, who is personally keen to coordinate and follow up with the officials and the project’s engineers to ensure the acceleration of achieving and completing the National Theatre’s project according to its scheduled time.
The Minister of Culture pointed out the great and kind support of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, considering the project an important project which will revive the theatrical movement, and initiate more creative works.
The Minister of Works, Essam Khalaf stressed that the National Theatre will be provided with the latest equipment and most modern light, sound and optical systems with the highest technologies to enrich events and performances that will be presented on that theatre. He also highlighted that the theatre is being constructed on 11,869 square meters, with total cost of BD19 million.
