The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) Bahrain is working on amending the existing regulations for pre-paid telecom services and new regulations will be issued soon, according to a TRA statement.
The amendments in the rules, it added, aimed at protecting the interests of public safety and discouraging attempts to exploit telecommunications networks for illicit purposes.
“The new amendments to the regulation will require prepaid service providers to take certain actions to achieve a clean and accurate subscribers’ database and records,” the statement added.
In this regard, the TRA has issued a public consultation on the proposed amendments to the Prepaid Telecommunications Services Registration Regulation.
Members of the public and the industry are invited to submit their comments on the new amendments or any existing provisions of the regulation. These comments will be taken into consideration in the final regulation. Comments should be submitted by no later than 14 June 2012.
The full version of the consultation document can be viewed on TRA’s website at http://www.tra.org.bh/en/consultations.asp#Pubdec.
