About 8,128 registered voters start casting their ballots for the Muharraq’s Constituency Eight on Saturday morning to elect their representative to the Parliament.
Four candidates are contesting to fill a parliamentary seat fell vacant by former MP Ghanim Al Buainain, who was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in April.
They are Sameer Kadhem, Mubarak Mukhaima, Dr Abdulrahman Buali and Hind Bucheery.
Ballots are cast from 8am to 8pm at the Hidd Intermediate and Secondary Girls Schools and two general polling centres outside the constituency located at Bahrain City Centre and Bahrain International Airport.
Bahrainis living or travelling abroad have already cast their ballots at Bahrain’s embassies and consulates in Amman, Cairo, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
The by-elections in Muharraq’s Constituency eight reflect the continuity of the pioneering Reform Project, anchored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to consolidate democracy in the kingdom and enhance popular participation in the decision-making process.
