Tamkeen’s Professional Certification Scheme hit a new milestone with 1,000 Bahrainis served through the programme since its inception. The scheme was launched in 28-11-2011 as part of Tamkeen’s ongoing efforts to make Bahrainis employees choice by enabling them to obtain highly demanded and accredited professional certifications.
Tamkeen provided 50% subsidy of the cost up front, with full reimbursement upon the beneficiary’s completion of the certification, and the candidate have the freedom to choose between studying in any of the approved local training provider, self-study or even studying abroad.
Beneficiaries of the programme represented a broad cross-section of sectors. The Finance sector accounted for nearly 42% of the certification programmes in which the beneficiaries enrolled, followed by IT (20%), Health and Safety (9%), and Human Resources (8%), among others.
The majority of the beneficiaries consist of 65% male with 35% being female. Outside the 1000 beneficiaries, only 19% have been rejected for various reasons including multiple application submissions and incomplete information.
The accredited certifications included Chartered Financial Analyst, Oracle Database Systems, Member of Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, Member of Chartered Institute for Marketing and Project Management Professional programmes.

Such support programmes are key element in our mission to empower Bahrainis according to labour market requirements,” Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Mahmood Hashem Al-Kooheji said.
“For myself, I love learning new things and growing in both my personal life and career life. As someone already working in the IT field already, I decided to enhance my knowledge by enrolling in this professional programme. I am thankful to Tamkeen for giving me this opportunity and for all its various aspects of support,” Durreya Habib, Oracle Database Professional, said.
“I chose PMP because it was a natural progression for my career, given that I have a Bachelor’s in Information Systems and an MBA, and already started my project management education when I studied and worked in Australia. In addition to this being a very interesting area for me. Tamkeen had a huge role in all of this as applying for the scheme was very easy and smooth and their conditions extremely clear, not to mention their incredibly helpful staff,” Adnan Steth said.
“The Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (CAMS) is a well-known worldwide professional certificate which I thought would help me advance my career as a banker working in this field, At first, this programme was not amongst Tamkeen’s list of sponsorships, but after demonstrating the importance and relevance of such a global certificate to my current job, they have added it as the first and only certificate in this field,” Enaam Abdulla, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), said.
“NEBOSH is a highly accredited international certification for Safety and Health, which is a field that I felt, offers excellent growth opportunities. The certification has allowed me to become a deputy safety inspector before completion of my applied studies, which I plan on continuing until I get certified in the sixth and final level of NEBOSH. I am very delighted to have such support, and I feel that many people are missing out on some of the great opportunities that Tamkeen provides,” Mohammed Hubail, NEBOSH, said.

Tamkeen has allocated about BD107 million for its projects in 2012. These include 20 new initiatives this year. More than 22,000 people are expected to benefit from Tamkeen’s various support programmes this year alone.
