Authorities have deported an American Filmmaker who committed immigration fraud and was working in Bahrain without the proper Media Visa, according to Information Affairs Authority (IAA).
Jen Marlowe, a Seattle-based documentary filmmaker, had arrived in the country about a week ago on a flight from Jordan. Upon arrival, she told immigration officials she came to help a friend who had recently had a baby, but investigation showed the names and addresses she gave were fabricated.
Marlowe is affiliated with members of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) organization, some of whom had resorted to similar illegal entry tactics in February of this year. While in Bahrain she has been shooting a documentary film that requires a proper visa permitting one to work in the Kingdom.
“The filmmaker was briefly detained and questioned this afternoon. She has been deported back to Jordan,” the statement, added.
