Dana Al-Zayani, Head of the Unit in charge of follow-up of the implementation of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) recommendations, affirmed the unit’s strenuous efforts in following up the recommendations with the proper governmental entities.
“The unit’s processes and strategy are based on the report of the National Commission in charge of implementing the BICI’s recommendations. The unit’s action essentially emphasizes the follow-up of accountability of offenders, payment of compensations, the civil settlement initiative, the National Compensation Fund, and the administrative development of security agencies, including training plans aimed at enhancing the capabilities of security personnel,” she said.
“The Unit is also concerned with following up on the reinstatement of dismissed workers and the progress achieved in that area, as well as the progress of work on houses of worship within the framework of coordination between relevant entities. The Unit also tracks the national reconciliation efforts and related programs, judicial development and progress achieved in legislative amendments pertaining to freedom of expression, in addition to educational and media development to promote the culture of human rights, respect of the other, and upholding pluralism,” she added.
Al-Zayani reiterated that the actions of the unit are the collective national effort aimed at implementing essential reforms reflecting HM King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa’s commitment to progress.
