The 16th Main Joint Economic Committee between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday reviewed the status of the Export Development Center.
The Committee which reviewed the development of Export Development Center project said it would enhance the economic sector compatibility by helping the national industrial institutions in gaining access for their products to the world markets.
Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro chaired in his office the 16th Main Joint Economic Committee between The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry in presence of BCCI Chairman Dr. Essam Fakhro and members from both sides, Where the Minister confirmed that the Ministry represents government keen on cohesion the chamber of commerce and dimension away from any political bickering that would affect the unity as considered one of the oldest institutions in society since many decades.
During the meeting, they reviewed a number of common issues between the two sides, where the committee reviewed commercial agencies subject and regulations that would help Bahraini traders to take advantage of this subject.
Also was discussed the development to establish a new company for exhibitions and conferences and expected to participate in a number of major companies and banking institutions in the country, where the Minister in this regard confirmed the importance of exhibitions and conferences industry in the Kingdom, especially in light of the facilities and promotional programs of the government and the Ministry to attract investors and major events to Bahrain.
During the meeting, large discussions were highlighted to the main obstacles and challenges facing salons profession at the moment and some of them practice this activity at home without a permit from the competent authorities and advertise their services in the newspaper, which requires organizing this profession.
The Committee discussed the proposal of Industrial Sector Committee to establish vertical Industrial zone to provide more space in industrial areas and to accommodate more industrialists which gives the opportunity for a greater number of investors to invest.
The Committee presented a proposal to change the name of the wording of gold and jewelry in the commercial registration from “workshop” to “factory”.
The Committee also reviewed several proposals related to the Bahrain Asian Traders with respect to investment companies and percentage of ownership and nature of activities that allowed inward traders to invest in.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Hassan Fakhro appreciates the role played by BCCI because it considered as umbrella of the private sector and its role as investment front in the Kingdom. BCCI Chairman also praised Ministry efforts in reviving Kingdom economy.
