Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Bahrain, Iain Lindsay, highlighted the importance of the bilateral relations between the UK and Bahrain.
“The security cooperation between the two countries in regards to the recent investigation of explosives discovered in Bahrain is reflective of the strong bonds,” IAA quoting the British envoy in a statement said.
“Bahraini authorities have requested the British police to assist in the bomb plot investigation, and the relationship between the two countries has been a fruitful and healthy relationship.This was in response to events last month when Chief of Public Security Major-General, Tariq Al Hassan, announced security forces seizure of a bomb manufacturing operation in Salmabad, where tools and material required to produce highly explosive bombs were found. Investigations are on-going with the assistance of London’s Metropolitan Police and Scotland Yard’s Bomb Data Center,” Ambassador Lindsay, said.
In more positive news, he said, the strong Bahrain-UK relations have been reflected in the smooth procedure in managing travel arrangements for the Bahraini delegation to the Olympics in London. We are very glad Bahrain is participating in the Olympics with a strong sporting team, and we wish them the very best of success in their competitions Lindsay explained.
The Olympics 2012 will take place from the 27th of July until the 12th of August in which 13 Bahraini athletes will compete in athletics, shooting and swimming.
Lindsay continued to discuss the continuous efforts in strengthening the relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom. ”This year, the two countries will observe an exchange of delegations to enhance the cooperation in affairs regarding the judiciary system, human rights and the reform process,” he said.
“We expect the arrival of senior British figures in Bahrain, as well as Bahraini Ministers and officials visiting the United Kingdom to reaffirm the countries relations in the various fields.”
Lindsay confirmed the efforts of the British Embassy in expanding the economic relations by the end of year by attracting more British companies to Bahrain.
