The Kingdom’s leading integrated telecommunication services provider Batelco and Bahrain Development Bank (BDB), Bahrain’s leading Development Financial Institution, have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaborations that support local Information Communication Technology (ICT) entrepreneurship initiatives and projects.
“The collaboration of the two major Bahraini organisations will also benefit the Kingdom by working together to support local ICT entrepreneurial projects,” both parties after the signing ceremony, said.
Batelco Bahrain Chief Executive Rashid Abdulla said that Batelco is delighted to announce the cooperation with the BDB in order to expand on Batelco’s aspirations in the field of ICT entrepreneurship projects. This cooperation is one of many initiatives that Batelco is currently working on supporting the local talent and encouraging entrepreneurs.
“The BDB is well known for its support and efforts to encourage entrepreneurs who are striving to evolve their innovative projects and initiatives,” he said.
Bahrain Development Bank Chief Executive Officer Nedhal Al Aujan echoed Abdulla’s sentiments in saying that the BDB was delighted to work with Bahrain’s leading telecoms operator.
“Our agreement will serve as a tool to support youth projects and innovative excellence in the telecommunications and information technology sector. Through this agreement, we will be providing additional programmes and support to entrepreneurs through the establishment of new projects within the Information and Telecommunication Technologies domain as well as further development of existing projects,” he added.
Batelco Bahrain Chief Executive Rashid Abdulla added that telecommunications needs were growing daily in both the consumer and business markets, and agreements such as this will help to keep Batelco well ahead of demand by focusing on the changing face of the telecoms technology industry.
