BMI Bank welcomed a batch of 25 young Bahrainis, including 14 female and 11 male students to their annual summer internship program. The students aged between 19 and 22, are currently completing their respective majors at both the University of Bahrain and at other private universities.
The interns will undergo a two month long intensive hands-on training program within the Bank’s key departments and will be mentored in different activities including retail, wholesale and private banking, treasury, risk, legal, operations and corporate communications amongst others. BMI Bank has successfully been running its summer internship program since 2005 and has seen an increase in the number of interns through the years.
“In line with our commitment towards building a comprehensive and robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, we are pleased to welcome these young students to this year’s Summer Internship Program. The program is designed to expose these young boys and girls to the various dynamics of the banking and financial institutions and help them in better understanding the various career possibilities available within from a closer angle,” Eyad Sater, General Manager- Support Services at BMI Bank, said.
“At BMI Bank, we understand that investing in youth today will pay off for tomorrow’s skilled workforce demands and we are proud to be able to contribute to our society. And we too benefit from them, from their talent, enthusiasm and fresh ideas that are invaluable, creating a win-win situation for all. We hired close to 10% of the students from the previous year’s program and favor promising interns when we have suitable positions at the bank. Our hope is that this will continue to grow over time so we can create a sustainable avenue for young students to find their chosen career at BMI Bank,” he added.
