Cluttons, the real estate specialist which has enjoyed a dedicated presence in the Middle East since 1976 and recently celebrated a 35 year anniversary in the Kingdom, announced the launch of its power saving initiative relating to the portfolio of commercial properties currently under its management.
Cluttons’ decision to move towards a greener path is a response to Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority’s power saving campaign: Save so as to Sustain. As a leading real estate firm, Cluttons takes its lead from government decisions and adapts its working practices to keep in line with the latest initiatives.
The technology used is a voltage regulator, and is effective in enhancing the fullest utilisation of the power transmitted to operate chiller and air conditioning equipment. This has the effect of reducing costs and extending the life of equipment, whilst also saving power and reducing carbon emissions. It has previously been introduced successfully in other Middle Eastern countries and is now being introduced in Bahrain.
To date, the equipment has been installed in one Cluttons’ managed commercial building in the Diplomatic Area in Bahrain, with many other commercial clients showing great interest for their own buildings. It is hoped that by year-end, all properties will have such equipment installed and operational, with the dual aim of both reducing costs for landlords and the impact on the environment.
This initiative further provides evidence of Cluttons’ robust Corporate Responsibility (CR) policy, and follows the previous focus on tackling waste management.
