Bapco’s Oil Spill Response team hosted two days of Crisis Media Spokesperson training for a total of 10 senior managers from across the company. The training was provided by Rob Sherwin, Middle East Managing Director of specialist energy crisis management consultancy Regester Larkin.
Rob used case studies from his own 15 years of experience in the energy sector, including 10 years in the GCC, to illustrate the theoretical part of the course. The session really came to life when each of the managers attending the course was subjected to a series of short but intense live TV interviews using a fictional BAPCO crisis scenario.
The course focused on all matters of concern to any establishment at the time of a crisis. Finally, participants left the course with one of Rob’s key mantras ringing in their ears: in a crisis, BAPCO must be prepared to “Tell it all, tell it fast and tell it truthfully”.
