Under the patronage of HE Minister of Energy, Chairman of National Oil & Gas Authority Dr. A Hussain bin Ali Mirza, Bapco has recently opened the 3rd run of Bapco Scholars Enhanced Learning (BASEL) as part of Bapco’s ongoing support to the community and in line with Bahrain vision 2030.
The event was opened by the Chief Executive, Gordon Smith with a five-day workshop. During the event, Dr. Mirza shared with participants his experience and impression during his work in Bapco.
Faisal Al-Mahroos, former chief executive of Bapco was BASEL guest speaker during the workshop. Faisal highlighted the importance of oil and gas in current civilization and the role of Bapco in Bahrain. About 30 participants comprising twenty two university students who are the children of Bapco employees together with eight Bapco employees were selected to participate in this ambitious programme that enhances leadership and communication skills of the youth. Adopting the action learning methodology, participants were given the opportunity to work on some real Bapco challenges. The programme will last for 3 months and at the end, participants will present their feedback and recommendations to executive management on the challenges being assigned to them. BASEL was initiated in 2010 to foster better relationships between Bapco, employees and scholarship students to enhance learning skills by bridging the gap between academic and job market requirements, and to provide Bapco with fresh input from youngsters on some corporate strategic challenges.
