Royal Navy warship HMS Diamond joined the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and conducted a series of drills with the Australian frigate HMAS Melbourne. On her maiden deployment and joining the other navies of CMF in the region, HMS Diamond is now busy with counter-terrorism and piracy patrols, bringing security and stability to the region.
HMS Diamond is one of Britain’s latest Type 45 destroyers and represents some of the world’s most sophisticated military capability.
“We have a vital role to play in keeping these sea lanes safe for international trade, not just for the UK but for the good of the wider global economy. It is a massive and important task and we are looking forward to working with colleagues from 26 navies including Australia, Pakistan, South Korea and Thailand as well as our US and European partners,” . Commander Ian Clarke, said while explaining the role of the ship.
The Ship’s Company of HMS Diamond will continue their patrol of these waters until their expected return home in late December.
