His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa visited the Isa Town market to get the first hand information of the damaged market which burnt to ashes after a blaze engulfed most of it on Sunday.
HRH Premier gave directives to re-build the Suq immediately and equip it with the latest security and safety requirements, as well as the best facilities for its merchants and visitors.
The Prime Minister also issued instructions to remove the remnants of the fire and complete the investigation into its causes as soon as possible in order to allow the concerned sides to start rebuilding the market.
“What matters to us most is that traders return to their shops and stalls quickly so as to be able to earn their livelihoods,” HRH Premier said, tasking the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to inspect all traditional markets and make sure that they respect the safety and security requirements.
HRH Premier was briefed on the measures taken to deal with the fire, ways to keep losses to a minimum and prevent the blaze from spreading to nearer stores and the size of the damages.
HRH Prime Minister expressed sadness over the blaze, lauding the strenuous efforts made by the Interior Ministry’s bodies, in coordination with other related sides in bringing it under control without human losses despite the crowd.
He also expressed sincere sympathy with owners of shop damaged by the fire, reiterating the government’s standing by them and resolves to rebuild the market as soon as possible.
HRH Premier expressed pride at the cooperation and solidarity between constitutional institutions, official bodies and citizens shown following the regretful blaze.
