His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has issued directives to rebuild the Isa Town traditional market as soon as possible and make sure that safety requirements are in place, stressing that the souq’s distinctive character should be preserved.
He also instructed the concerned sides to give priority to the market’s current traders, asserting that the government has always done its utmost to meet the citizens’ needs and help them maintain their livelihoods.
HRH Premier was speaking as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace, in the presence of MPs Adnan Al Maliki and Isa Al-Qadhi and Deputy Chairman of the Central Governorate’s Municipal Council’s Youssef Al-Sabbagh, a number of the Isa Town Market’s traders.
During the meeting, HRH Premier affirmed that service of the citizens is given top priority, pointing out that Isa Town market is a popular monument and a source of income for many traders and, therefore, “it is our duty, as a government, to protect it and support its traders.”
He also praised the exemplary cooperation and solidarity between all sides during the fire incident.
Isa Town market’s traders extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for his constant keenness to support them, which, they said, reduced their sufferings, expressing sincere appreciation to him for his repeated visits to the market in order to follow up closely the executive procedures to start the rebuilding process and make sure they are finalized as soon as possible.
