Information Affairs Authority President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has asserted that the development and modernization plans of the media sector will continue unabated to groom human resources and fast-track the development and modernization march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
He was speaking as he inaugurated IAA website which, he said, will provide a comprehensive outlook of the Kingdom’s media development and services.
He stressed IAA keen interest to provide a line-up of media services via its website by utilizing cutting-edge technologies in the information and telecommunications field.
He said the website (iaa.bh) contains various sections on the authority’s activities in both Arabic and English.
He added the website will help highlight the truths and bring to the public attention Bahrain’s comprehensive reforms and achievements.
“The website will also permit to inform the public about the main radio and TV programmes and avail of the smart mobile phones’ applications,” he said, adding that people will also be able to benefit from other services including having access to IAA news and reports through social networking systems and Youtube.
He said the website also contains an evaluation section which spotlights major media and public functions held in Bahrain round the year.
“Users will also be able to send electronic greeting cards, the first-of-its-kind service on governmental electronic websites, to strengthen relations among members of the one-family Bahraini society,” he added, underscoring IAA commitment to upgrade the current media strategy in order to promote the media and technical quality, improve the Bahraini professionals’ performance and modernize the legislative system by preparing a comprehensive and advanced draft law to boost mass media’s freedom, autonomy and plurality as well as organize the work of the media city which will promote Bahrain’s presence in the international media arena.
