Saudi Interior Minister His Royal Highness Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received in his office in Jeddah on the Minister of Interior Lt-General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and the accompanied delegation. The Minister offered condolences on the sad occasion of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Nayf bin Abdulaziz, former Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior.
The Minister highlighted that Bahrain wouldn’t forget his stance with Bahrain that show the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud towards the Kingdom. He congratulated HRH Prince Ahmed and greeted him for the Royal trust reposed in him by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques by appointing him as Interior Minister to reinforce the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the joint GCC work.
During the meeting the Minister also hailed the strong and historical relations linking the leaderships of the two countries which were witnessing continuous development in the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and praised their care and efforts for the welfare of their citizens.
He also highlighted the major role played by the Saudi security authority and its sincere efforts to maintain stability. He affirmed that security cooperation was a vital issue between the two countries to check those who were trying to disturb the security of the people and the stability of their lives.
The Minister briefed HRH Prince Ahmed about the security situation in Bahrain and his Ministry’s efforts to deal with the security incidents. He affirmed that the wisdom of the leadership and cooperation and sincerity of the citizens had averted many crises in the Kingdom. He said the current security presence was aimed at spreading a sense of security and peace among citizens and residents and tackling illegal activities. He said that Bahrain was a country of security and stability and that all efforts would continue to keep it like that.
The two ministers in their talks also exchanged views on the latest developments relating to the discovery of terrorist hideouts in Bahrain and the seizure of explosives. They agreed that this amounted to an escalation of terrorist activities for which there was no excuse. They also agreed that such crimes would not deter policemen from continuing to combat anything that might compromise the nation’s security and the safety of its citizens and residents.
“This strengthens our determination to punish those who have betrayed their country and sold their nation and conscience,” the Minister said.
Out of the two countries’ resolve to offer the best services and take steps to facilitate the movement of people and goods along King Fahad Causeway, the two ministers discussed the project to set up the new official processing zones at the causeway to tackle the rapid increase in the number of travellers and vehicles. This will be done through long-term plans that include increasing the lanes for private cars, allocating more lanes and gates for buses and yards for customs inspection for trucks to facilitate the flow of traffic with efficiency.
The both sides stressed importance of cooperation in fighting terrorism and combat crisis and new crimes such as cyber crimes.
HRH Prince Ahmed appreciated the Minister’s brotherly visit. The Saudi Minister affirmed that Bahrain’s security is part of Saudi Arabia’s security, while highlighting importance of immediate direct coordination between heads of security authorities of both countries.
