Victims of the fire that ravaged the Isa Town souk, are being relocated to temporary area behind the Rameez market in the same locality, said Chairman of the Central Municipal Council, Abdulrazaq Abdulla Hattab.
The Bahrain News Agency in a report quoting Hattab said the traders whose stalls were ravaged in the fire would be allowed to return after four to five months. The details of those who lost their livelihoods are being ascertained, he added.
The details of who lost and how much, he said, would be ascertained by the committee that will look into it. The committee, he said, is being formed on the orders of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
“It would comprise members of the Central Municipal Council, the Central Municipality and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning. The Ministry of Interior would play a key role in this,” he said.
Till the investigation is completed at the area of the fire, he said, the municipality and the other authorities have imposed a clampdown and nobody is allowed into the area. This, he said, is to ensure that there is no pilferage.
Adnan Mohammed Al Malki, Member of Parliament from the area, said that the area was now being cleaned. “HRH the Prime Minister visited the area today and the Dr Minister for Energy Dr Abdul-Hussain Ali Mirza was with him. The prime minister wanted the minister to inspect the electricity and ensure that the area was safe.
