Bahrain City Centre in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development is hosting Lewan Ramadan – a dedicated heritage village featuring a variety of Ramadan-themed activities and entertainment for the family. Sponsored by Viva Jusoor, Lewan Ramadan was inaugurated by Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al Balushi, Minister of Social Development in a special ribbon cutting ceremony last night at Bahrain City Centre.
“I would like to thank the Ministry of Social Development and Viva Jusoor for their support in bringing Lewan Ramadan for the community to enjoy,” Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, Senior Mall Manager for Bahrain City Centre, said.
“All activities are designed to encourage the spirit of Ramadan – spending quality time with family and friends, and also give the opportunity for guests to celebrate Bahraini culture and folklore. Lewan Ramadan is for everyone, and we hope it adds to the festivities during the special occasion of Ramadan.”
Lewan Ramadan features a daily calendar of themed arts and crafts and cultural entertainment that all families will be able to enjoy. Children will be able to create their very own Ramadan themed keepsakes such as pottery making at studio ceramics, and Origami telescope-making while learning about Ramadan astronomy. Additional nightly activities include traditional Bahrain folklore storytelling; puppet show performed by Al Bayader Theatre; complimentary health clinic with an on-site nutritionist to stay healthy this Ramadan; a henna station; photo opportunities with a falcon and a traditional games corner for children, teens, and adults. Guests can also upload their photos with the falcon or of their henna on the Bahrain City Centre Facebook or Twitter pages to enter to win weekly Gift Cards worth BD 25.
On July 31st, the Gergaoun Festival will be celebrated with a live band and Fraisah show from 9pm to Midnight and kids will be able to collect small candy packs during the festivities.
“We are proud of our partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Bahrain City Centre in this initiative that will bring the festivities of the holy month to all the people in Bahrain,” Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, CEO of VIVA, said.
“Our CSR arm, Jusoor, reiterates our commitment to giving back to the community through an array of activities and initiatives that will benefit everyone. Last year was a huge success and this year, with VIVA Jusoor we aim to connect people to each other, facilitating a free exchange of experiences, ideas and information within the community”.
The majority of Lewan Ramadan activities will start from 9:00pm daily except for pottery painting, which will also offer an additional early afternoon session from 11:00am-2:00pm.
