Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro affirmed that government and Ministry would continue to follow up all trends in the local market and the prices movement especially food and consumers goods and to check markets readiness to receive the Holy month of Ramadan in terms of special promotions and prices.
The Minister along with senior officials carried out inspections of the local markets including Manama Central Market, Mega Mart, in addition to Bahrain City Center and Seef Mall.
During the visit to Manama Central Market for Fruits and Vegetables, the minister was briefed on market and shoppers movement, where Redha Al Bustani assured the availability of vegetables and fruits especially those high in demand for the holy month of Ramadan.
In term of meat, numbers of butchers confirmed the availability of required meat, praising Minister’s role in enhancing stock and providing all their needs continuously. General Manager of Bahrain Live Stock Company Ibrahim Salman assured that there was enough stock of cattle with shipments in the pipeline to meet the growing demand of meat during the Holy month of Ramadan.
During his visit to Megamart Supermarket, Dr. Fakhro was briefed on promotional offers available there. Foaad Al Mansory confirmed that the market is keen to offer more promotions to consumers in goods that are high in demand.
The inspection visit also included Bahrain City Center, where he was received by Ali Al Qattan, who confirmed the raise of visitors during week days and weakened. In term of complex facilities, they are working at full capacity and record large numbers of customers at all times. The minister visit Carrefour, where officials confirmed the continuous of promotion which includes a lot of goods, pointing the increase of shoppers on weekends and evening times
During Seef Mall visit, the General Manager Robert Addison assured the growing number of visitors in addition to the summer sales and discounts which encouraged attracting a lot of shoppers, stating that the number of visitors for that current period is more compared to the same period in 2010.
