His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who paid a surprise visit to the Isa Town Suq, ordered the concerned ministries to complete the damage assessment quickly. HRH was also informed on the efforts made so far to ensure the return of traders to their natural work as soon as possible.
HRH Premier gave directives to take urgent security and safety measures at the market in order to make sure that traders are back to work, instructing the concerned sides to expedite the re-building of the blaze-hit market without delay or bureaucracy.
HRH Premier also gave orders to equip the market with pumps and ground water tanks that can be used in case of fire and provide all shops with fire extinguishers, stressing the need to ensure that entries and exits of the market are appropriate for the entry of the Civil Defence cars and that a Civil Defence vehicle should be available at the suq until the safety requirements are in place.
He also issued instructions to provide the market with lighting and air-conditioning devices, stressing that electricity extension should meet the highest technical and safety standards.
HRH Prime Minister also ordered the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister to implement all the recommendations of the Civil Defence regarding security and safety immediately.
He also pledged that he will follow-up the market’s re-building process personally, instructing the Industry and Commerce and Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning ministries to speed up preparing reports on the size of the damages of the fire that ravaged the market.
HRH Premier issued orders to carry out a comprehensive review of all traditional markets and intensify inspection campaigns in order to ensure that they are committed to the safety and security standards, calling for the need to train markets’ guards at the Civil Defence School.
