Information Affairs Authority (IAA) President Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa attended an introductory symposium co-organised by IAA Equal Opportunities Unit and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
The symposium spotlighted integrating women’s needs in development in line with the royal order number 14 for 2011 to set up and organize the national committee in charge of following up and implementing the national model of integrating women’s needs in the government’s work programme, under the presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and SCW Chairwoman.
The “equal opportunities” principle, based on justice and the absence of discrimination in all fields, was also reviewed.
Shaikh Fawaz lauded substantial support provided by SCW to integrate women in all fields and boost their role in development as well as achieve the principle of equal opportunities.
He also praised the symposium aimed at informing IAA personnel about the role of the Equal Opportunities Unit in boosting competences.
The IAA President underlined the need to apply the principle of equal opportunities in all fields and consider the needs of IAA female employees. He directed members of IAA Equal Opportunities Unit to back SCW efforts in raising social awareness to spread the culture of respecting women through various programmes, including workshops and training sessions.
