Bahrain on Thursday announced the amendment in the Article 221 in the Penal Code for attacking the security personnel with imprisonment from seven to ten years.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued law number 33 for 2012 amending article 221 of the Penal Code, according to a statement posted by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
According to the new added paragraph, imprisonment shall be the penalty for any person who assaults a member of the Public Security, BDF, the National Guard or the National Security Body.
The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period of no less than seven years if the assault results in a permanent and unintentional disability, no less than ten years if the assault deliberately causes a permanent disability and lifetime imprisonment if the assault leads to death.
