Ministries of Industry and Commerce and Health in a joint action seized a shipment of a contraband and hazardous material which was being sold by local shop keepers in Bahrain.
Both Ministries have launched separate investigations to get to the bottom of the issue and referred the accused cases to the public prosecution for further action.
The committee monitoring the implementation of the anti-smoking at Public Health Department, Ministry of Health and Consumer Protection Department, Ministry of Industry and Commerce referred a number of offenders to the public prosecution for selling banned material imported from India.
The raiding parties have also unearthed a processing facility in Isa Town where the packing and mixing for the banned powder was going on at the time of the joint raid.
The official statement said that during market inspections the relevant documents have been seized which helped to unearth the ring of offenders involved in this illegal but very profitable business in Bahrain.
