Head of the Public Prosecution’s Special Investigations Unit, Nawaf Adullah Hamza has announced that Hussam Al Haddad died after sustaining injuries during clashes which erupted between the security officers and rioters who took to the streets in Muharraq on August 17, 2012, attacked passers-by and hurled Molotov Cocktails at a police patrol stationed in the area.
Consequently, the security personnel were forced to intervene to deal with the situation and bring it back to normal.
“One of the rioters was masked and died after sustaining injuries in the clashes,” according to initial investigations and a coroner’s report.
No bruises, the report added, which could have resulted from a physical assault were found on the deceased’s body, the report revealed.
Investigations are still underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
