Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba)’s credentials as a company that values safety at the workplace, and its commitment to provide some of the effective fire prevention systems were highlighted during a recent educational tour by a group of students from the University of Bahrain (UOB)’s College of Engineering to the Alba plant.
The lecture was conducted by Fire Fighting team in the Company’s Health, Safety & Environment Department, thereafter followed by a practical demonstration of a fire fighting and rescue exercise.
“It is always a pleasure to welcome members of Bahrain’s student community to Alba, and share with them some of the experiences gained over the years that have made the company one of the leading smelters in the world. Safety has been one of the key priorities in Alba’s forty-year history, and today, it has enabled the company maintain a safe work environment for all of its employees. We are proud to impart some of our experiences in fire safety to the visiting UOB students and trust that it has also made them conscious in making safety a priority in their lives,” Alba’s Chief Executive, Laurent Schmitt said.
Alba’s safety credentials have earned the company international accolades that have included prestigious awards from the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the British Safety Council for four consecutive years.
