The Bahrain Foundation for Reconciliation and Civil Discourse (BFRCD), a non-political society seeking to foster greater social cohesion and harmony between Bahrain’s communities, announced the appointment of four members to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Founder and Chairman Suhail Ghazi Algosaibi welcomed the new board members, being: Amin Al Arrayed as Vice Chairman; Ehsan Al Kooheji as Treasurer; Leena Al Olaimy as Secretary; and Maryam Al Sherooqi as Communications Liaison.
“The Board of Trustee members were chosen for their profound love for Bahrain and their previously demonstrated commitment to work on behalf of the betterment of their nation. Reflecting a cross section of the people of Bahrain, they each bring a unique set of skills, backgrounds and perspectives. I am honoured to have them with me on this Board, and I am confident that their dedication to fostering tolerance, mutual respect, and understanding between all segments of Bahraini society, will advance the Foundation’s mission of social reconciliation,” Algosaibi, said.
The BFRCD Board comprises diverse cultural and professional backgrounds. Amin Al Arrayed is the founding General Manager of First Bahrain Real Estate Development Company, and Founder and Managing Director of the Majaal Warehouse Company. He has been an active member of the Young Arab Leaders (YAL); and now serves as a member of both the College Council for Business Administration at the University of Bahrain and the Curriculum Advisory Committee (CAC) for Bahrain Polytechnic’s Bachelor of International Logistics Management. Al Arrayed has over 15 years banking and finance experience, and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from the DePaul University, Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in Chicago, USA.
Ehsan Al-Kooehji is the Founder and General Manager of Kooheji Systems, a website development and mobile application development company. He was also part of the team that spearheaded the Bahrain Debates earlier this year. An entrepreneur and an avid technology expert, Al Kooheji has worked on hundreds of IT projects in the past. His experience also spans management roles within Telecoms, Real Estate, and Creative industries. Al Kooheji is a member of both the Association for Computing Machinery and the British Computer Society. He holds a BSc. in Computer Science from the American University of Sharjah, and an MBA in Management from the New York Institute of Technology.
Leena Al Olaimy is Co-Founder and Managing Director of 3BL ‘Triple Bottom Line’ Associates, a social impact and sustainability consultancy and think-do-tank. She also serves as the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) Quality Control Consultant for Sustainability Reporting Training Partners in the MENA region; and sits on HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan’s West Asia North Africa (WANA) Forum Advisory Board. Ms. Al Olaimy has around 12 years of professional multi-disciplinary experience in Communications, Social Impact, and Public Affairs in Bahrain and New York.
She holds a MA Globalization Studies from Dartmouth College, Hanover, USA, where she studied as a Fulbright Fellow. Al Olaimy is also a Soliya Network Conflict Resolution and Mediation Fellow.
Maryam Al Sherooqi is a social worker, student and career counselor with the Ministry of Education, and a columnist for Al Wasat newspaper. She is also the Executive Director of Wide Horizon Event Management. Al Sherooqi has previously worked at the Ministry of Information, and also held several visiting lecturer posts across the USA. She has conducted training on various topics including, Social Work Code of Ethics, Child Autism, Counseling, Inter-Cultural Understanding, and Special Needs. Her research has probed social issues such as marital discord, and challenges facing social work students. Al Sherooqi holds a BSc. in Social Work from the University of Bahrain and she has been trained by the United Nations to provide counseling to adolescents, and on reproductive health.
