His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said that just as democracy guarantees the right of the individual, the state’s right to ensure that it is not misused should also be preserved, noting that democracy safeguards societies against chaos, but some sides tend to use it as a tool for incitement, sabotage and terrorism.
Speaking as he received at his court today a number of intellectuals and media and press figures, HRH Premier praised the tremendous efforts made of media and columnists in local newspapers to enlighten public opinion and protect it from deception and ill-exploitation of democracy, as well as preserve national fundamentals.
During the audience, HRH Prime Minister stressed the need to take advantage of science, public awareness and genuine social heritage to consolidate national unity, noting that the kingdom boasts of a rich legacy of unity and co-existence values that can be used to enhance the solidity and cohesion of the Bahraini society.
HRH Premier also reviewed with those present the latest regional and global developments, commending the essential role played by Saudi Arabia to bring the Arab and Islamic nations together and consolidate solidarity among them, citing the extraordinary session of the Islamic Summit Conference, set to be hosted by holy Mecca.
