His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa issued directives to speed up spending compensations for those affected during the fire that hit the Isa Town traditional market, according to the damage assessment statement prepared, under his instruction, by the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry and supervised by representatives from the ministry and the Central Governorate’s Municipality and Municipal Council.
HRH Premier also instructed the Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry to expedite the reconstruction of the Souq in order to enable traders to return to their normal activities and shoppers to avail of the market’s benefits, affirming the government’s constant resolve to ensure the citizens’ livelihoods, out of its interest in ensuring decent living for citizens.
The Premier also stressed the need to commit to safety standards in traditional markets across the kingdom so as to avert regretful incidents similar to that of the Isa Town Souq.
