The General Directorate of Police in the Northern Governorate announced that a group of thugs attacked on-duty policemen while on foot patrol in Banu Jamra Village last night, severely injuring one of the officers with Molotov cocktail bombs. The attack also endangered women and children in the area.
Preliminary reports indicate one officer sustained serious burns all over his body and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. The Ministry of Interior recently announced that since the beginning of this year more than 700 policemen were injured in attacks targeting security forces on duty.
The General Director said that those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice and that no effort will be spared to pinpoint and arrest those involved.
