Upon directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and following a decision by the cabinet, the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), led by Chairman of its Board of Trustees Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, will deliver relief aid worth $2 million to the Syrian refugees who fled into neighbouring countries because of the deteriorating security situation there.
Shaikh Nasser extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HM the King, RCO’s Honourary President, for his continuous initiatives to offer humanitarian aid to those who need it across the world, especially in Syria in line with the fraternal ties bonding the Bahraini and Syrian peoples.
He also commended the support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and backing of His Royal Highness Prince Salaman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.
Shaikh Nasser also indicated that following the launch of the kind Royal initiative, the basic needs of the Syrian refugees were identified and then donations were collected under the supervision of RCO’s Secretary General Dr. Mostafa Al Sayyad in a record time.
RCO Secretary General said that he has coordinated with the Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Information Affairs Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Health Minister and Vice-Chairman of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) Sadiq Al Shehabi and the Kingdom’s Embassy in Jordan in order to join efforts and provide the necessary help for the brotherly Syrian people as soon as possible.
He also pointed out that he has coordinated with the Jordanian Red Crescent Society to take the necessary measures in order to provide relief for Syrian refugees across the Jordanian-Syrian borders.
He also asserted that RCO, under the leadership of Shaikh Nasser, will take other initiatives to support the Syrian refugees and those affected by the on-going crisis.
