Bahrain’s ministry of Interior said that Al-Wefaq Society will be held accountable the acts of violence and sabotage committed by protestors during an unauthorised and illegal rally on Friday.
“Exercising rights and public liberties – including freedom of express and rallying – has nothing to do with attempts to harm the national economy, sow chaos, rioting, acts of violence and sabotage and defiance of the law”, the ministry said.
The ministry said that it had taken legal action against Al-Wefaq Society and referred the case to the Public Prosecution.
The ministry had denied the association permission to hold a rally in Manama, citing security reasons and the law on public assemblies as well as the detrimental repercussions on traffic.
